I participated in the first Web 2.0 conference as a speaker, and went again for the second time this past autumn. It's hard to believe that Web 2.0 only really got wind in it's sails 2 1/2 years ago, but if anyone has any doubt that the hype has reached hysteric proportions Baris at ComVentures has published a list of Web 2.0 companies here.
Hype or no hype, the Web 2.0 Conference has become the place to discuss the next evolution of the web and, more importantly, the business model, usability and technical architecture ramifications of the changing landscape.

I guess no one is going to share new ideas on some conferences. If you have nice idea or project you want to start, you need to get some money for it, or investor. You do not need to make your idea word of mouth.
Good idea or better to say innovative idea works silently without promotion...
So, the conference is just the place to get new clients for your old idea.
Thanks...
